College Profile

P.G.D.A.V. College, a co-educational institution, was established in the year 1957 by D.A.V. College Trust and its affiliate management society. It is a constituent college of University of Delhi and is a part of its South Campus. Situated on a prime location in Nehru Nagar (near VIMHANS Hospital) on the Ring Road, it ensures easy connectivity from all parts of Delhi, Noida and Faridabad.

P.G.D.A.V. College is an institution that has made excellence and success its tradition. It has thirteen departments engaged in offering undergraduate courses of the University of Delhi in Arts, Sciences and Commerce and Computer Science. Four of these Departments register students at the Master's level for tutorial classes which supplement the M.A. lecture classes held at the University of Delhi. The faculty is highly qualified and experienced, a majority of them with doctoral qualifications and some of them guiding students at the post graduate and doctoral levels.

A well equipped computerized library, with more than 70,000 books, wide range of research journals and magazines along with internet facilities are available to all the students of the college. It also has two well maintained state-of-art computer laboratories. The college has excellent facilities for sports along with a very well equipped playground.

Academic and co-curricular activities are organized by different departments through Subject Associations and Societies both at inter class and inter college levels providing ample opportunities for participation and creative expression in both academic and co-curricular fields.

Apart from cultivating a niche for intellectual and cultural expression, PGDAV College develops democratic sprit, comaraderie and intellectual maturity. The different functions held in the college throughout the year, and the college festival “Aagaz” organized by the Students' Union provide for a close interaction between students and teachers. Occasional field trips, excursions and out station visits make for a close bonding between teachers and students. For aspiring young writers, 'Ankur', the college magazine provides an excellent opportunity for expressing and developing writing and literary skills under the able guidance of the faculty. The college conference hall is a meeting ground for activities in the field of academics, arts and culture. The college has nourished enormous sports talents who have brought laurels to the country.
